7 April
I played minder for the morning, looking after Ed on Wednesday. It was the first fish in the river with his new boat, and 1st for Ed for 9 weeks since his accident.
The Gale Force was great to fish out of apart from Ed rubbing & stroking the boat all the time - I think he is in love or something.
We headed to the Woods Bays to have a go at the Trevally and Tailor that have been around of late. There was heaps of bait flicking and it didn’t take long to get a nice little Trevally, then a little Jack on the same Lure - a ZBL Popper in Eddy Sweres Colour.
Ed got a Trevally on a Berkley Powerbait - Pearl Watermelon (green) soft plastic. We then headed to Munna Bridge & Back of the sound for a look. Ed got a Golden Trevally, GT and a nice Jack on his Plastic.
We ran into Sam Newton (Hooked On Team Member), Tom & Daniel. They had caught some Diamond Trevally, tarpon and Gt’s.
What a great time of Year! Cool mornings, sun shining, great way to kick off a day.
Cheers Mick
Hey all - Sam here
Went for a fish on Wed with tom and dan and got a few trevs around the sound, on a skinny pop and squdigy wrigglers. The GT's went to 40cm
Here are the photos

Hi all
it's Tom
Went out on Sunday morning at around 5:30 am with my dad.
As soon as we got in at Tewantin we saw boil ups every, so we
drifted at the mouth of Goat Island, dad getting 1st tailor and
1 bream on a savoy shad, and i got tailor, 1 trevally and 4 bream
on a g-splash popper.
Later on, dad got a big grunter and some flatty, and i followed up
with a bream and a flatty.
The next day we went out again at the same time and we got a trevally
some tailor and flatty from the Woods.
c ya later,
Tom

GREAT DAY OUT by Craig

Queensland Grouper
After the comp I teamed up with Matt and we headed out to see if we could get in some practice. We packed a heap of small hard bodies and headed out to find some fish.
First up we thought we'd try and bag a Jack, but the second cast produced a 265 mm Bream on a Kangoku Minnow on 2 kg line.
A few mintues later a Black Spot Cod, followed by a Gold Spot and then a Qld Groper, see photo, and then a Long Tom of 650 mm. But no Jacks.
It wasn't looking good to get multiple species in the boat, so we packed up and moved to a nice piece of structure not knowing what we would get, first cast Golden Trevally, see picture, then I bagged a bigger one of 600 mm, both on 2 kg line and then Matt got the third a 650 mm on a Jackall Chubby
attached to 2 kg line, see picture.
Feeling quite good we decided to get some Flathead on the falling tide and only managed one over 40 and that was 410.
With the tide running quite low I suggested we try and get a Whiting, I pulled out the Flitter I won at your comp and tied it on. I cast it over a sand bank and walked it back, what a great action. I loaded her up and launched her out for the second cast and said to Matt "watch this thing swim". We watched closely as it wriggled across the bank and before our eyes a Whiting smashed it and peeled line, he went 375 mm, see picture.
What a great day, we got 9 species between us and about 40 fish all up.
Thanks guys for making us get out there and trying something new. Make sure you thank Shane for me, I would never have tried to lure up Whiting before I met him.
Regards Craig.
