Paul

On Saturday, dad and I went up to Double Island Point in our boat for an over-nighter. We headed up at about 8am, hit 'DI' about 10am.
It was very quiet during the day, with only a few legal fish hitting the deck, so after moving around a few times to position our boat on different portions of the reef, we found our spot for the night. We soon started pulling a few fish, and just before dark I sent down a tailor fillet.
I let the bait touch the bottom and wound up a couple of turns when WACK - hooked up to a solid fish. Knowing the type of fish in the area, I backed off my drag!
After a few good long runs, I finally got it off the bottom and up under the boat. With a perfect gaff shot from dad, we boated a very fine 7.5kg scarrlet.
Just after dark I sent down a live slimy mac wich was monstered by a very large cod wich after comming up from 60m was not able to be revived. It went 25kg.
The night went very dead, so very early Sunday morning we moved in closer to the headland, always a good choice to take advantage of low light conditions. Here we pulled some nice pearlies, and dad got to christen his new daiwa saltist lever drag reel which went very well on a couple big spotties. So all in all we had a good trip.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi its Suni here.
Went out with my friends Sam and Dan on Saturday. Caught a lot of tailor and big eye trevally, and the odd school of GTs popped up as well. We used poppers all day and got a lot of big hits. Caught this 40cm barracuda to the fork at the start of Weyba Creek at about 8.30am in the morning. Sam and I went out the next day, and I hooked up to this 50cm to the fork jack at Woods on a Savoy Shad at 6.00am in the morning.
